During today’s reading time, the children chose their favorite picture books and found a comfortable spot to sit, embarking on a little exploration of their own. Some little ones were engrossed in flipping through the thick pages, observing the illustrations one page after another; others used their small hands to touch the pop-up features, lifting fabric pages to discover what was hidden inside; and some children sat together with their good friends, each holding a picture book, quietly enjoying their reading time.
For children, “reading” is not just about listening to stories. From reaching for books, turning pages, to touching and carefully observing the pictures, every little action practices hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, while gradually building their understanding of colors, shapes, animals, and everyday objects. 🌱
Teachers also join the children in looking and talking about the pictures, responding to their interests. Even if they linger on a favorite page, flipping back and forth, it is still a wonderful reading experience. Let picture books be a small companion in their daily lives, nurturing a love for reading and focus through repeated explorations. ❤️
